Well, we are nearing the end of the semester. We’re almost done everyone!
EDTC300 is, by far, the class I have learned the most from. Trying to fit all I’ve learned in to a 7 minute video, impossible, but here is the video I made for my summary of learning. Please do keep in mind that I have never made an attempt at making short before so don’t be too harsh on me if it is sub par.
The apps I used:
iMove – I had it on my macbook and never tried it out before but since I already have it and Katia recommended it, I gave it a go. It was surprisingly easy to use once I got used to it. There are still some features I wanted to use but never got around to figuring it out, but I will definitely be using it again.
Screencastify – One of the apps that Katia showed us during class and it is so useful. If I had not known about this app, I may have just screen shot and used the pictures instead of having a video.
SmartConverter – The clips that I downloaded from screencastify were not read by iMovie so I downloaded this app to convert the clips. Was very simple and didn’t take much time to convert it.
imgflip – I used this site to use the meme generator. It was a little difficult to use. Some of the complaints I had was that you need to know the name of the meme if you want to use it. I don’t quite remember how I figured out what my meme was but I’m pretty sure it took me a while to figure out. It also restricts where you can put in the speech bubble. It only lets you put it in where the original meme had it. It was also difficult figuring out how to get the settings the way I wanted it to be. I would probably not use this again
People I mentioned in the video:
The Youtube video I mentioned is from a musical called “Avenue Q” and the clip I showed was performed by the North Hennepin Community College.
There are some points that I wanted to point out for my video:
1) The third Daniel who filmed and posted it on Youtube plays two parts. If he is looked at as a person that is not Daniel, he shows how easy it is for people to record you and post it online. He shows the dangers of the accessibility of recording devices and the ease of posting it online.
2) The third Daniel also shows you that it can be you who posts stuff online that could ultimately hinder your career. The irony of Daniel talking about the potential harm of posting negative things about oneself and then later posts a video of him talking to himself, shows how easy it is to post something that you thought would not have any impact but ends up costing you. I just wanted to make note that the irony of the beginning scene and the last scene was intentional.
Last but not least, I want to give a personal shout out to my camera technician. He/she didn’t talk much, but with him/her and the support he/she gave me, I would not have been able to make this video!
